Snowstorms have to be one of my favourite things in life...!! There's nothing better than sitting inside next to the fire watching the snow fall at a swift pace. As I type this evening it's an absolute blizzard outside so I thought this outfit would be quite fitting for what we're going through at this very minute to give you some style inspiration for the next couple of days as Britain is hit with a huge snowstorm.
I actually couldn't wait to get out in the snow for these shots and love the fact they turned out better than anticipated! Yes, I was highly doubting this would work out so well but wanted to give it a shot anyway and this is what we were left with after some slight tweaks to the editing process to lighten and sharpen the images up a little. I absolutely love the outcome of these and inspired to maybe get the chance to do something similar again if the snow sticks around this week. I've actually just got over the worst virus this past week and still coughing here and there but ordered and stocked up on lot's of Vitamin C and mineral syrups to get rid of this cold once and for all...
I'm SO hoping this week get's better with a thick blanket of snow but maybe contradicting myself a little with having to drive in this storm to work for the next three day's, HA! Ohh well, I can't deny I love a good storm but actually being out and experiencing it first hand is another thing! The day we got these shots we drove back home to the village we live in and my god! The snow was covering the road and it was actually scary. The thickness of the snow was unbelievable and even driving slow you could feel the car losing control a little - anyway as we were driving back we witnessed an accident between two cars sliding down the hill and luckily never got involved ourselves but it does shake you up a little when you drive that same road every day and it's super notorious for accidents in all types of weather conditions.
Okay, now onto the outfit itself and away from my ramblings!! If there's one piece I KNOW will keep me cosy and warm all day it's the AllSaints Ava hoody! I adore this piece so much that I've actually got it in every colourway. The wool fabric is perfect for this kind of weather and winters in Scotland can get VERY cold - so having a drawer packed with wool garments is my ultimate saviour when it comes to cold spells. Some mornings I can see myself up mega early when it's still below minus outside and I need something quick to wear and always rush for this hoody as it goes with everything and it's sooo warm! These kinds of mornings I'm most likely walking the dog so definitely need something practical but warm at the same time and this fits the bill perfectly.
You might have already noticed the Furla pebbled leather bag making another appearance on here in such a short period of time but that's for good reason! It's super practical and just gorgeous in design. Unlike my Aspinal of London Lottie(s) here - this bag is much more "every day" per say and I actually like the laid back feel to this one. It's more of a plain Jane and in a good way as it's very minimal in design and has a raw leather inside which I love - as it gives a more rustic vibe to the whole bag. My Lottie(s), however, are much more special pieces and perfect for day and evening but with the hardware detailing to the chain which does give them more weight compared to how light my Furla shoulder bag is!
Finishing the outfit off with some mega distressed trousers from River Island in a flattering skinny fit and ripped knees in my favourite shade khaki teamed with ankle boots for ultimate winter goals. Surprisingly this outfit is very practical for the weather conditions even IF it doesn't seem like it! Just because the trousers are ripped, doesn't mean to say it's not warm. The thickness and wool fabric of the cropped hoody make up for the fact my trousers are distressed and the boots help to keep the warmth in with a polished pointed toe to give the appearance of height (perfect for when you're layered up to face the cold).
What's your favourite piece to keep you warm during colder spells??
