Winter Survival Guide

If there’s one thing I love about the colder months is the fact it gives me more time to relax and unwind and really enjoy being in the moment. My favourite winter rituals would be running a nice hot bath and using some of my favourite bath products from the likes of LUSH and drinking the most luxurious of hot chocolates every other night. You might be well aware that my most sought after the hot chocolate brand is Whittard of Chelsea with Thorntons being a close second, however, this line has now been sadly discontinued.

Taking time out to relax will rejuvenate and refill you with new ideas and motivation for the day ahead and even the next, considering how well you’ve planned everything out. I’m starting to take more me time every day and enjoy the present moment before getting back down to work. My days are pretty long from an early morning start at around 8-9pm all the way to 12-1am before I settle down for the night. Weekday’s for me normally consist of blogging, photography work, editing, social media and then I start my part-time job late afternoon until night, after 10 pm I normally relax and catch up on TV or read some blogs/magazines until bed.

With such a hectic schedule this can leave me feeling deflated and technically speaking I work more than I do sleep or relax, but at the same time, I’m happy with that as I actually enjoy working and having something to do with my time but off course it can get on top of me sometimes. I feel more now than ever it affects me worse when the nights get darker and the days get much colder than it can stress me out and cause cold sores and tiredness from being so run down trying to fit everything in.

Sorefix is a brand new cold sore lip balm that’s just hit the shelves and actually works to prevent cold sores and dry lips which is a life saver for me as I always find it worse during winter! The strange thing is my cold sores never hurt or cause me discomfort but they’re not nice to look at and really stubborn! I’ve tried a variety of brands in the past and the only one that works effectively is Blistex, however, Sorefix is my new go to as this works to prevent them coming back and this is a powerful edition that Blistex doesn’t contain.

Surprisingly enough just after receiving Sorefix I actually had a cold sore in the process and it was the perfect time to trial it and see how effective it was and I was amazed! My cold sore disappeared the following day! This is the quickest turn over I’ve ever experienced from a cold sore product and I couldn’t quite believe it! It could just be the fact I maybe caught it just in time before it developed but even although that’s some pretty impressive results. To this very day, I haven;t had another cold sore and that’s been a good 3 weeks now since I first tried this product and hoping it wards them off for much longer but we’ll see!

I’ve actually been using the Sorefix on my lips to treat dryness and hydrate them and it works really well for this purpose too and makes a perfect base for lipstick! The formula isn’t overly liquidised and gives a nice creamy texture when applied to the lips and hydrates them straight away and makes them feel comfortable again and not dry and sore. I adore this Rimmel Kate matte lipstick in shade “Wine”, it’s the perfect deep berry hue for Autumn/Winter and despite being a matte lipstick it’s not drying at all and just stunning.

Lastly, a true winter saviour must have is my hand and body creams! These are a fundamental part of my winter skincare routine and just keep my skin hydrated and soft during the colder months. I’m currently loving The Body Shop hand cream range and always switch between these travel tubes and the LUSH tubs which aren’t as travel-friendly but just as moisturising with all the lovely natural ingredients. Speaking of natural ingredients MooGoo skincare sent me some lovely skin products to try out and really enjoying the MSM Soothing cream packed with organic sulphur and sweet almond oil to hydrate the skin. I’ve been using this on my face and body and it calms redness and makes my skin feel really soft and moisturised for a long period of time. The lotion has a gorgeous thick creamy texture and applies to the skin really well and dries in quick enough.

What’s your winter saviours?

I love winter for the hot chocolates (so good!) and the nice pampering products like oils etc you can use, but I hate chapped winter lips and especially cold sores! I usually get them when I’m stressed and they’re a pain, you’re really lucky yours don’t cause you discomfort or anything like that.

    • My lips are forever chapped during winter and even get sore! I always carry a good lip balm with me 🙂 Cold sores aren’t much of a bother for me and don’t normally hurt or cause discomfort but they can be stubborn and take a good week to dissappear xx
