We were so lucky to grab a glimpse of sunshine at the weekend and decided to go on a hike up through the hills to one of my favourite beauty spots. Before heading off we grabbed some food for a mini picnic as part of the #lunchbreakholiday campaign by Travel Supermarket and we even made Ollie a special little lunch to join in. Ollie was really excited for this walk and it’s a good five hours to get right around from where we live and really enjoyable too!
There’s nothing I love more than being out in nature and exercising, these walks can be intense but once you’ve done it a couple of times it starts to become easy and not so sore on the legs ha, ha! This is definitely one of my favourite ways to spend time out in the sun during summer, as it makes for a great getaway and bringing Ollie along makes it even more enjoyable. Ollie had a blast and loved splashing around in the small lakes and playing Frisbee.
We also brought along his favourite grey squirrel squeak toy that he received in last months pawsome box, as he’s always attached to it 🙂 We packed some basic food to eat whilst sitting beside the lake enjoying the view and noticed a couple of freshwater herons flying by the lake. It was definitely an afternoon to remember and can’t wait to do it again! The views really are breathtaking, and it makes for a great beauty spot and I always used to remember coming up here as a kid on easter to roll our eggs and see the frogs in the smaller ponds.
We also decided to play the Doritos Russian roulette game which is pretty dangerous on the tongue, these crisps are ultra spicy and you need LOTS of water!! Kyle loves them and bought five bags last week, but he still hasn’t finished them yet. I bought a bunch of Nakd bars for eating on the go and they come packed full of protein. The cake was also another necessity for the trip, and I love how cute the cakes are from our local bakery! Unfortunately, our ones get squished in the picnic bag heading up.
I always wear old clothes when coming up here as it’s a nightmare having to walk through all the fields and we’ve had some really heavy rain over the past couple of day’s, and this turns the fields to marsh so you can imagine how that turned out! 😉 Not only this but we had another obstacle on the way home and needed to cross a small river stream to get to the other side. My feet were soaked and I wasn’t best pleased, it has to be one of the worst feelings ever but they soon dried so it wasn’t all bad 🙂
