Reddish-Burgundy browns are hot property this season, and always look incredible during Autumn/Winter. I would describe this shade as strong, sophisticated, glamorous and sexy! This shade comes in perfect for casual wear and evenings and it’s very subtle, making it a nice neutral option if you don’t want anything too bold or dramatic.
Wearing deep shades like this could be considered “too much” especially for more casual wear, but I can reassure you this looks very natural and because it’s a matte formula it sits perfectly for hours without the need to re-apply. Very relaxed this lipstick can be applied with ease and comfort knowing you’re going to look very glam but with a more moderate approach as the deep burgundy tones really come out and look incredible for winter against paler skin. The red shades really liven the lipstick up and add more depth and a richer, warmer colour to tone down the lipstick when applied.
I would normally go for a more neutral makeup base when wearing darker lipsticks and for evening wear this would look amazing with black eyeliner or a smokey eye! With less makeup, the lipstick looks more fresh and modern, especially if you’re working with deep shades like “Diva” and want a more natural finish. This shade would work perfectly for most skin complexions and hair colours and I especially love it against my red hair as it gives an almost sultry vampy look, which I adore. I do believe this shade changes according to your natural lip colour, and could look darker or lighter on different people but this does not make a huge difference, I find this happens with most lipsticks as they adapt to your natural makeup, for a more natural finish.
This shade is slightly more drying compared to other Matte formulas from the Mac range but it lasts hours and you will just need to apply a moisturising lip balm before and after application and maybe a few times in-between wear. If you’re looking for the perfect berry/burgundy shade for Autumn/Winter, I would highly recommend this as you can make it look more natural or bold depending on the event and occasion. Diva certainly is warmer toned and works in harmony with paler complexions to warm them up and give a beautiful finish to your makeup. It’s very rich and the texture is nice and creamy and applies beautifully to the lips and over-time it starts to leave a more red undertone, the longest this has lasted on me is around five hours.
Have you tried “Diva” or similar Mac Lipstick Shades?
