Around 4 weeks ago I received a very special delivery from ren skincare. I have been desperately wanting to try this face mask for a very long time now, after reading many great reviews on other blogs, so was very excited to try this product out for myself.
ren clean skincare, ren skincare, beauty blog, ren glycolactic radiance mask,
REN Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask – £30
This product provides many natural ingredients which I personally love and this can also add to the price of the product value. Ren is against animal testing and does not include synthetic fragrances or colours in the product. Ingredients are mostly fruit extracts from papaya to lime and contain many essential oils and 100% natural fragrance. Bio extracts and omega 3 and 7 are also packed into this nifty tube, omega 3-7 helps the ageing process by slowing it down and is considered an essential fatty acidSo I have been using this product for 3 weeks now and I really can notice a huge difference in my complexion, I always apply face masks before going into the shower as an easy option so applied a very thin layer all around the face and neck leaving out the eye area.
The product is orange with a very sticky texture and not so easy to apply in my opinion, as you have to really work it in to get good coverage. After application, my skin started to tingle slightly which was very nice as shows that the product is working giving a very deep cleanse and exfoliation. The overall smell is very uplifting and fresh and really energises the senses with a strong zesty scent from the lemons and lime. After leaving on for a good 10-15 minutes, I then removed the orange residue with the soft white cloth you also receive in the box which really scrubs the skin when removing the left over residue which by now has faded away into a clear substance. Patting my face dry I then check my skin in the mirror and notice that my few spots have cleared up and have noticeably reduced in size and redness giving this product a thumbs up for me. I also notice my skin looks more radiant and sporting a healthy glow that lasts for hours after using the product.
My skin also feels much lighter after the exfoliation process and brighter in general, so overall I am very impressed with the product and would purchase again as I feel it works for my skin and makes a huge improvement to my overall complexion. You can use this mask once a week and this is what I would personally recommend also as the results last for a very long time and by using it once a week this also gives good value for money, it can also be bad for the skin to over use products as this removes natural oils creating an unbalance in the skin and this could cause problems from dry skin to blemishes. I always like to point out that after removing the mask with hot water to then go back with cold water as by doing so you close open pores and help blemishes clear.
Main Ingredients:
Papain on the other hand is an extract from the Papaya to help clean up dead skin tissue as it breaks down the protein toxins making it a good treatment for blemishes or scarred skin, it also helps in the function of whitening the skin gradually over time and this is very common in most Korean cosmetics to protect the skin from UV rays and environmental damage
Tartaric Acid is a white crystalline acid that occurs naturally in many plants, particularly grapes and bananas and used as a cosmetic antioxidant.
Glycolic Acid is used in various skin-care products due to its excellent capability to penetrate the skin and used in chemical peels just like this mask as once applied to the skin it can peel off when dried. Glycolic Acids main function is to improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin reducing wrinkles, acne scarring, hyper pigmentation. Once applied to the skin glycolic acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, thus weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together, this allowing exfoliation exposing live skin cells.
Citric Acid is widely used as a pH adjusting agent and is an alpha hydroxy acid and used as an active ingredient in chemical peels and gives a very zesty fruit smell to the product leaving skin feeling and smelling super fresh.
Product Negatives:
  • Not easy to remove product from pump
  • Sticky thick substance
  • Packaging could be improved
Product Positives:
  • Brightens complexion
  • Skin looks healthy and more radiant
  • Combats congestion, blackheads and blemishes
  • Moisturises the skin + Exfoliates
  • Improves skin tone
So after a very lengthy review, I will now close this post with some useful links
