Dr Martens Kendra Pebbled Leather Boots

My first pair of Dr Martens, Yes, much to my excitement I can't actually fathom the fact I'm strutting around in Dr Martens. Don't get me wrong I've always admired these chunky tread boots on others but never did I think they would suit my personal style but here we are rocking them to the fullest. Yes, I've gone slightly dark for this one and weirdly my eye makeup matches the burgundy colour of my beret, thus giving a slightly grungy vibe this halloweek. There's nothing I love more than a little bit of grunge especially with it being Halloween yesterday and binge watching my favourite paranormal series from Ghost Adventures (A must watch to truly get you spooked this week), Paranormal Lockdown and Most Haunted to name a few.....

Unlike me, you might be a complete sceptic to the paranormal but I generally love anything and everything to do with the topic and even have my own personal experiences with the unseen. I've always been interested in the paranormal and even more so at this time of year as we begin to merge into winter and what better time to binge watch some spooky goings-on than during Halloween. I love a good horror movie but also enjoy something a little more RAW, I guess you could say real. Everytime I watch Ghost Adventures, I always have chills and this is the perfect spookfest for me when it comes to investigating abandoned Asylums, Hospitals and Hotels.

I'm not sure if you're aware of the Annabelle doll, one of the most haunted dolls to date and there's been a couple of films based on this specific doll in Hollywood such as The Conjuring and Annabelle. I won't go into detail on this one as we'd be here forever but a quick google search and you will be met with lots of information on the REAL doll which is currently encased away in an Occult Museum in Connecticut US, to prevent people from touching the doll and being cursed. It's very real and the films are based on this doll and the events that occur when in its presence (outside the glass box). Anyway, what I'm getting at here is to give these a watch if you really want to be spooked and then give the real doll a watch in action in Zacs Haunted Museum (Ghost Adventures Series 15 Episode 8, Annabelle's Curse). I'm sure this will leave you terrified and it's a great watch for non-sceptics and sceptics alike to get a real feel for the powers of beyond the grave. Whatever is inside of this doll is demonic and for this reason, it has to be encased away to prevent physical and mental harm to whoever tries to conjure up what lies within the doll.

Spooky

Moving away from everything spooky and paranormal to my outfit and just some general new pieces I bought in recently from River Island such as this stunning black twisted front midi dress. I absolutely adore this piece for the colder months as the fabrics thick and comfortable. It's the perfect length for teaming with ankle boots like I have here with my Dr Martens and you could also get away with layering the dress up for extra warmth with a thin jumper underneath. It wasn't too chilly at the weekend and I just opted for a distressed cropped denim jacket from River Island. You'll know how much I love my distressed denim and have a similar design from J Brand here but in a pretty powder pink shade for Spring and Summer.

The River Island denim jacket, however, is much more cropped in length and larger in size compared to my J Brand one as I went with a size 10 for a more relaxed, boxy fit. I think it works well with more fitted pieces to add shape and dimension to my outfits. I've also gone with a pop of colour against all black with this chic burgundy beret from ASOS made from cosy wool. I love how this beret instantly elevates my outfits and have them in different neutral-toned colours to see me through the colder months in style.

I hope you've all enjoyed this spooky week as much as I have and going into the weekend!! Last year I played around with makeup to create a spooky skeleton waiter, which I loved but this year I've gone more casual and never really dabbled in makeup or costumes and just enjoyed watching horror films and series instead!

What have you been up to this Halloweek??

xo, Jenny

  • DMs are such a classic. I miss my old pair, and I’m now thinking of getting a new one. Big fan of scary movies and paranormal movies here! Which, is why I binged watch a couple of movies this Halloween.

  • I am a huge fan of anything horror and paranormal but am not a fan of slasher movies. Where I am from, most of us are superstitious and we respect the unseen. It’s very different in the Western world though, most just scoff it off and offer a scientific explanation.

  • Love this cool outfit and your makeup! Really nice!

  • I didn´t do anything for Halloween this year, not even watch scary movies. I am scared so easily, it would prevent me from sleeping for days.

    • Aww, tbh I ever done much either! We watched a couple of horror movies but apart from that I never done anything! I guess it’s because we work during the evenings on weekdays so it’s hard to plan things! We did watch the Conjuring and this was extremely scary haha! xx

  • I can’t believe these are your first pair of DMs! They look sooo good on you. Also, your makeup is flawless! Love the A/W vibes her and that jacket is hella cool. I’ve been really into River Island lately.

    • I know right!! I absolutely love them!! Thanks so much and me too! They have some really nice pieces as of late and at great prices! Even better when you catch them in the sales ha,ha! x

  • The boots look so great on you! I’m totally a believer in the paranormal, I’m really wishing I hadn’t read this post at this time of night though because now I’m terrified haha. The Conjuring was sooo scary, I really want to watch Ghost Adventures it sounds really interesting! I’d be so interested to know your experiences too! x

    What Josie Did Next

    • Thanks so much J and that’s amazing to hear! It’s not common to come across someone who believes as most people are sceptical when it comes to the unknown ha! The Conjuring was really scary, I was surprised at how scary it was actually! I guess because a part of me believes this could/does actually happen. You should give GA a try, it’s not for everyone but I personally enjoy it! I guess they take a more fun approach to investigating but still keep a professional manner. I haven’t had much experiences per say but living in the countryside I have come across odd unexplained things here and there. Edinburgh was a great experience as they do underground tours through the vaults and I’ve experienced being touched and fainting down there. I could also smell burning during one part of the tour as the vaults used to house the homeless and each room was over-crowed and lots of disease from the plague and other viruses. I’m sure our guide mentioned a fire out break in that specific room and the victims where trapped inside the room. Out with this I’ve heard and seen things that I can’t explain and I’ve also seen passed pets/people in my dreams which I also believe is paranormal. That’s most of my experiences that I can think of but from these I do feel it is very real! xx

  • Love this outfit! It really suits you! Especially loving the boots and jacket! I have to admit that I’m a bit of a sceptic as I’ve never experienced anything paranormal but I love reading about this kind of thing, I find it so interesting 🙂 xx

    • Thanks so much and I always find the paranormal interesting! It’s just something that’s unknown so it makes it even more exciting! I live out in the country so we have a lot of history around my area and in the likes of Edinburgh which I also enjoy the ghost walks they do in the evenings to the underground vaults! I think York has a similar concept when it comes to the paranormal! Perfect evening out in the winter or at halloween ha,ha! xx
